An easy Sunday

Katie has returned from her EVS on-arrival training, as she was away for 4 days.
It has been a quiet weekend, not much to do...just playing games, listening to music and chatting with friends :)

So, for a few more hours I will continue doing just that  - roaming around the net and playing games; enjoying my relaxed Sunday =)

One of those days

What to say? Random, random, random.

Returning a huge amount of material for the letters to their place, cleaning the mess other students have left behind, a bit of office work...these were the things I was doing today.

Katie is supposed to come in 2 days from her on-arrival training and I can hardly wait for her so I have somebody to spend my time here in the museum while working :)

I went to the Chinese restaurant to eat, as usual - so pretty much a routine already :)

Until something different/interesting happens, I bid you farewell :D

Burns' night

It was a special day today! Katie, our second EVS volunteer, organised a Scottish night - in honor of the famous Scottish poet Burns. The tradition is to eat Haggis - a lot of (usually) unwanted animal parts, mixed with vegetables and other stuff and stuffed within goat's stomach. Appealing, huh? :)
Well, she made a vegetarian version of that and it was quite good. We drank a bit of Scottish whiskey and read a few poems. Quite a unique experience, for sure. :)

Before, during the afternoon, I was helping Kalju with printing some poster and I was doing some researching for Madis.

continuing the guidebook business

Today we went on a Tartu AiR meeting and of 12 people invited, there were only 5 of us...which is kinda sad cause they even prepared coffee, tea and biscuits for us. After that we had a few workshops in the printing museum and other than helping the people with that, Katie and I were cutting the paper on the guillotine for the guidebooks. So, the day has pretty much passed in normal speed, no frustrations/freek-outs. Wish all the days were like this XD.

printing a museum guidebook

Katie, Marian and me were in the printing museum deciding on which design to use for the museum guidebook and tomorrow we should start printing around 80 guidebooks. I'm definitely sure that some complications will arise, but that's quite normal in the manual printing business. I have been showing Katie and Marian around the printing museum and how the machines here work.

The difference here is that there was no Lemmit around, so I needed to use all the knowledge I acquired during my stay here and do everything myself - starting from choosing and cutting the paper to setting and printing the text. Anyways, a tiring day...and the next two days will be even more.

Gotta go now,
Cheers!

GRUNDTVIG

We - Madis and I, have applied for a GRUNDTVIG project yesterday. As we thought of it just yesterday, we had less than 24 hours to submit it cause the deadline was January 16th.
It was chaos for me...I was the one writing the most of it and I didn't have much experience in project writing so it has been quite a struggle to compose sentences.
But, all is well what ends well...so, no worries - we did it!! And even submitted the application in time and sent the printed version by post!
Now back to regular duties regarding the museum! :)

Snow!!!! :D

Today was snowing like crazy in Tartu. Snow everywhere. I´m kinda realizing why they call Estionia the "winter wonderland"...it´s truly beautiful! Everything covered with a thick layer of white.

As the light from the street lamps wasr eflected on the snow, everything was shining and it really seemed like it was day and not dark as it actually was outside.

Katie, the Scottish EVS volunteer was here in the printing museum all day with me and I was slowly showing her the ropes on how do the machines in the museum work. Before she came we had a kid´s birthday party here and we were just printing some notebook covers.

All in all, it was a productive day today :)

2nd home, sweet home

Ok! Back to business. I came back 20 minutes ago and I can´t force myself to go to sleep even though I´m extremely tired.
Maybe I´ll just wait for someone, anyone to show up just to let them know I´m not dead - cause I will be out of service for the whole afternoon, after all.

I have seen the old office - in fact, I´m currently in it on Madis´ computer behind a huge pile of rubble or whatever and that led me to a conclusion that the former office is now a storeroom of random stuff.
The new office is unfortunately locked and I don´t know where the key is...so it´s unavailable momentarily.

Ok then, I´ll be roaming around to see what else is new and get back to normal work tomorrow.

Tomorrow back to Eesti

Ok!

My adventure in Southern Europe has come to an end.

I learned a lot while helping REX with their daily duties as well as meeting some interesting people in Croatia.

I have checked in online today and I'm all set for the plane tomorrow.

I'll update the blog once at the airport ;)

Cheers!

Tomorrow - Zagreb

As I bought the plane ticket to Estonia, I can leave to Zagreb and prepare for going back to my other home :)

I'm leaving on the 11th of January, afternoon. So, until then, I'll be with my brother in Zagreb.

Greetings from the cold city of Krapina :)

driving through Austria

I went with my uncle to Austria today.
He's a truck driver and he's constantly delivering cargo across Germany, Austria, France, Lichtenstein, Switzerland, Serbia, Bosnia and Croatia.
For me, his job is really cool, but as he's been doing this already for more than 20 years, it's not really that interesting anymore.

Well, I returned about an hour ago and I'm quite exhausted.
So, I'm out :)
